چکیده

Many disease biomarkers are expressed at relatively low levels or are not secreted making them difficult to detect in serum or plasma. However, these biomarkers can stimulate a robust humoral immune response even if the antigens are expressed at very low levels. Because the immune system serves as a natural amplification system, antibodies to these biomarkers can be produced at detectable levels giving them great potential as disease biomarkers.
